£1,680 raised at Air Ambulance fashion show

Unconventional fashion show raises £1,680 to keep local Air Ambulance charity flying and saving lives.

Over 100 guests showed their support for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance (HIOWAA) at the Solo Mia Winter Fashion Show on Thursday 4 November at the Holiday Inn, Winchester.

The charity event featured models with a personal connection to the local Air Ambulance. Including the mother and grandmother of Joshie who was rescued by the service when he was just three-years-old.

Models Kate, Joshie’s grandmother, and Danielle, the friend of a patient who was crushed by a horse, opened the show with a touching talk about how HIOWAA was there for their loved ones in their hour of need.

HIOWAA Director of Marketing and Fundraising, Keith Wilson, said:

“It was an honour and a privilege to attend this fabulous event. The talk delivered by both Kate and Danielle emphasised the impact our life-saving service has on so many lives. Each mission we attend costs on average £2,882. The money raised will help ensure we can continue to be there for those who need us most.”

The sell-out audience were treated to an evening of catwalk creations, independent stalls and the latest Italian clothing from fashion brand Solo Mia. “People were queuing to buy stuff all night,” reported one attendee.

Guests were welcomed with a complimentary drink supplied by the evening’s sponsor Good Vibes and Mindset. Local DJ, DJ Scotty, entertained the crowd throughout the night.

It costs the Charity approximately £15,000 a day to maintain its service, with each mission costing on average £2,882.
