Astute People soar for your local air ambulance

Local recruitment agency, Astute People, has been raising vital funds this year to help keep us flying and saving lives.

Since choosing Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance as its Charity of the Year in February, the Portsmouth based agency has been out in force, raising more than £15,000 – enough to fund four life-saving missions.

Tackling challenges from 100km walks through wind and rain, to skydives, to hosting themed bake sales, the team have been raising awareness and vital funds to ensure we can reach the next person who needs us most.

Matt Dickens, Director at Astute People, said:

“At Astute, we’re committed not just to our professional roles but also to making a difference in the community. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance is an incredible charity that provides life-saving critical care across the region.

“We’re proud to support them and are thankful to everyone who has contributed to our fundraising efforts.”

CPR Skills for Life

On Tuesday 22 October, 40 members of Astute took part in our new life-saving initiative: CPR Skills for Life.

With the aim to boost the confidence of those in our community to begin basic life support if they see someone collapse, the team learnt how to assess a patient, call for help, perform effective chest compressions and how to use a defibrillator.

In December, as part of their wellbeing initiative, Astute will be recognising loss and bereavement. In support of this initiative, we will be visiting the team to offer a free will writing information session – providing advice on will writing and estate planning.

Natalie Russell, Supporter Engagement Officer at Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, said:

“Working alongside Astute to help save lives across our region is a real privilege. Their creativity and commitment has made a huge difference – helping our Critical Care Team reach those who need us most.

“The Astute team have become a key part of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance family.”
