Golf club chip in with £13,600 donation

Last October, members of Shanklin and Sandown Golf Club nominated us as their charity of the year. They’ve now rounded off our 12 month partnership with an incredible £13,600 donation.

One of the highlights of the year came through their Golf the Wight challenge. Four members of the club played a whopping 92 holes on eight courses… in one day!

Teeing off at 4am in June, the fourball finally made it back to their home club at 21:42.

The club also held a successful race night, hole in one donations and match fines across the board.

The Shanklin and Sandown Ladies’ Captain, Connie Huntington, said:

“Needless to say, we are overjoyed at being able to raise this much money for the Air Ambulance. Living on an island dependant on ferry services, we are very well aware of how important an Air Ambulance could be – In fact, we had one attend the golf course a few years back when one of our past captains collapsed on the course.”

Our Supporter Engagement Officer, Natalie Russell, said:

“Shanklin and Sandown Golf Club are the epitome of community spirit. We are grateful for the generosity, creativity and sheer enthusiasm displayed by the members. Their gift demonstrates the powerful impact that’s possible when we join together to help others.”

A huge thanks to everyone who got involved, donated and supported this partnership.
