The newly appointed High Sheriff of Hampshire, Mrs Sue Elton, paid a visit to our Airbase in Thruxton, Andover, on Thursday 17 April.
Sue Elton was declared in the role of High Sheriff at a ceremony on March 26 at The Great Hall, Winchester. She is the King’s representative in the county for all judiciary and law and order matters.
Our Chief Executive Richard Corbett, Dr John Walls and Trainee Critical Care Paramedic Heather Simpson showed Sue around the current base, giving her a close-up tour of the helicopter and the equipment it carries between incidents.
Sue Elton said:
“The dedication of the team was inspirational, showing me around having only just returned from two major call-outs.
“What struck me was the level of medical care the paramedics and doctors can administer to patients at the scene thanks to state-of-the-art technical equipment and the skills of the team.
“I was pleased to hear of the relocation nearer to Southampton, enabling an improvement in the response times – key to this critical care.”
Richard Corbett added:
“I’m incredibly grateful to Sue for taking the time to come and visit her local Air Ambulance charity – particularly so soon into her tenure as High Sheriff.
“We rely entirely on the kindness and generosity from people across our community – not just to help us raise the much-needed funds, but also to raise awareness of the life-changing work we carry out 365 days a year.”
