Local insurer boosts roll out of CPR Skills for Life

Staff at the NFU Mutual Agents New Forest office recently nominated Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance to receive an incredible donation of more than £6,500, to help us bring our CPR programme to people in our community.

CPR Skills for Life

There are approximately 30,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests in the UK each year, with fewer than 1 in 10 people surviving. Shockingly, only half of UK adults are confident they could perform CPR on a loved one.

We are determined to change that.

Our newly launched CPR Skills for Life programme gives you the confidence to identify and perform effective CPR – including how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED).

But we can’t do it with the support and generosity from people, businesses and organisations across our region.

Support from the community

The Agency Giving Fund forms part of NFU Mutual’s £3.25m funding pledge for both local and national charities in 2024, to assist with the ongoing recovery from the pandemic and to help tackle the impact of the rising cost of living.

The generous £6,500 donation allows us to continually develop as a service and extend our reach beyond immediate life-saving care on the scene, by helping to fund the development of our community CPR scheme.

John Heather, Senior Agent at NFU Mutual New Forest, Isle of Wight and Bournemouth Agency, said:

“In 2024 our agency has decided to support charities across our three offices that focus on healthcare – prevention, critical care and end of life support.

“Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance is known for the critical support both through the helicopter they provide across the New Forest and Isle of Wight, but they also provide an initial primary care support through local groups. We are delighted to help extend their provision of training and education within the community.

“We’re extremely proud to have nominated Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance for this donation.”
