Road Safety Week 2024: supporting people after a collision

Five people die on UK roads every day. While another 30,000 receive serious, life-changing injuries each year.

So far this year, our team of doctors, dispatchers, pilots and paramedics have responded to almost 300 road traffic collisions across Hampshire, the Isle of Wight and surrounding areas.

Behind every number is a family whose lives have been changed forever – in an instant. This Road Safety Week (17-23 November), we are joining millions of people across the UK celebrating the work of people who support after a road crash.

A story behind the stats

Jogging through the streets of Portsmouth on a cloudy New Year’s morning, 30-year-old Dale was embracing the start of a new year. As he stepped out to cross the road, his life was about to change forever.

Dale required immediate critical care from our crew. He was seconds from dying.

We’ve partnered with Applied Driving to share Dale’s experiences of that day and of the vital support and care he has received since.
