The Gerald Micklem Charitable Trust has generously continued its support of our Aftercare service with a £10,000 donation.
As recognition of the vital work of this team, The Trust has now donated a total of £20,000 towards the provision of Aftercare since 2023.
Due to the severity of the incidents that we attend, many of our patients can be left navigating significant physical and emotional challenges, such as living with a traumatic brain injury or coming to terms with the loss of a limb.
Many of these patients will also often experience memory loss around the time of their incident. For some, these gaps in memory can be distressing.
Our Aftercare team, formed in July 2023, are on hand to provide a consistent point of support to these patients, as well as to their friends and family members.
Tom Nickisson-Richards, one of our Aftercare Managers, said:
“Patients who have been treated by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance have often experienced significant illness or injury. Not only have their lives been turned completely upside down, but the lives of their families have also been profoundly affected.
“Aftercare provides a consistent point of support to these patients and their families, helping them to make sense of what happened. We’re extremely grateful to supporters of the charity whose generosity makes our vital service possible.”
Thank you to everyone at The Gerald Micklem Charitable Trust for their support.
