Thousands raised at Southampton Marathon

Around 9,000 runners hit the streets of Southampton in the 2025 ABP Southampton Marathon on Sunday (7 April) for the 10th edition of the city event.

30 participants represented team Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance on the day, raising £8,800 – enough to fund two emergency missions – in the full and half marathon, 10K and 5K races, respectively.

Passing through St Mary’s Stadium, Southampton Docks and Western Shore – and pushed to their limits crossing the Itchen Bridge – runners were treated to spectacular views across the city and beyond, with the sun beating down from the start of the race to the finish.

One of our runners was Dan Shelley who raised £170 and completed the race in 2 hours and 13 minutes.

Dan told us:

“I thoroughly enjoyed the race, especially the community feel from everybody cheering us along the route – it was so encouraging, and I would definitely take part again. It felt particularly poignant knowing that I was running and raising money for a charity that plays a pivotal role in saving and changing lives every year.”

Celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2025, more than 75,000 runners have taken part in the Southampton Marathon over the years raising in excess of £5 million for different charities.
