An Eastleigh and Southampton-based bus group, Xelabus, has generously donated two years of advertising space on the back of a double-decker bus – a contribution valued at £11,000 – to help us raise funds towards our Operation Airbase appeal.
The Xelabus team has also donated £500 to mark the organisation’s 15th birthday in January 2025 and plan to participate in our 5K Runway Run at Southampton Airport in July to further support the appeal.
In a show of solidarity, Andean Signs has also stepped up by offering a substantial discount on the cost of wrapping the bus, helping us to save even more on this impactful promotion.
In September 2024 we launched our Operation Airbase appeal – a £3.6 million appeal to build a state-of-the-art Airbase near Southampton Airport.
Our team of highly skilled doctors, pilots and paramedics currently respond from Thruxton, Andover, but this move to a more central location will significantly reduce response times for most emergency calls by almost half from the moment they take-off – saving vital minutes when treating patients in desperate need.
Thanks to enormous support from people and organisations across our region, we have raised £1.2 million towards our goal in just six months.
Judith Stephens, our Supporter Engagement Officer, expressed her gratitude, saying:
“The generosity and support from the Xelabus and Andean Signs teams have been truly inspiring. We’re so thankful to have them alongside us in this crucial campaign. With £1.2 million already raised, every contribution helps us get closer to our goal. A double-decker bus showcasing our appeal across the south will be a fantastic way to increase awareness and encourage even more support.”
Phil Blair, Commercial Manager of Xelabus added:
“We wanted to give something back to the community as part of our 15th birthday celebrations and the idea of 15 individual charities appealed. HIOWAA was an obvious choice, and we are delighted to provide £500 plus the back of one of our buses to raise as much awareness as possible. What better way to get everyone’s attention!”
